The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has been actively courting corporate and event business, including a dedicated outreach session with Indian event planners and corporates in New Delhi in January 2025, timed to India's MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, which the same NTB reporting put at roughly 8% projected growth that year. The numbers behind that push are real: Nepal recorded 1,158,459 international arrivals in 2025, a 97% recovery on pre-pa
ndemic 2019 levels, and NTB leadership has stated that more than 20 MICE events, 31 tourism marts, and around a dozen corporate branding activities were scheduled for 2025 alone.
One detail worth knowing before you book a venue: Nepal's dedicated convention centre, the Birendra International Convention Centre in New Baneshwor, was damaged in a fire during the September 2025 protests and has remained closed since. For years it was the default option for large international conferences in the city. With it out of use, that load has shifted onto hotel conference facilities — an August 2026 international convention at The Soaltee Kathmandu, for instance, drew around 550 delegates from seven countries and was inaugurated by Nepal's Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu, Hilton Kathmandu, and Kathmandu Marriott have taken on a similar role. The practical effect for transport planning: instead of one central venue, a multi-day event now often means delegates staying at one hotel, meeting at another, and needing a coordinated excursion or dinner venue on top of that — three separate transport legs instead of one.
The mistake we see most often from first-time corporate organizers is booking transport by headcount alone, without matching it to how a group actually needs to move. A 30-person delegation isn't one block of 30 seats — it's usually a mix: a few executives or keynote speakers who need a private car, a delegation group that moves together for site visits, and possibly a single larger transfer for something like a gala dinner where everyone needs to arrive and leave at the same time.
